- Develop and implement child life programs and interventions to support the emotional and developmental needs of our young patients and their families.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to children and families facing medical challenges, hospitalization, and medical procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to create a comprehensive care plan for each patient, taking into consideration their unique needs and circumstances.
- Utilize developmentally appropriate techniques and tools to help children understand and cope with medical procedures and treatments.
- Create a safe and welcoming environment for children and families, promoting a sense of comfort and normalcy during their hospital stay.
- Educate and train hospital staff and caregivers on child development, coping strategies, and ways to support children and families during difficult times.
- Document and maintain accurate records of interactions, assessments, and interventions for each patient.
- Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team, advocating for the needs and preferences of children and families.
- Coordinate and facilitate play and recreational activities for patients, encouraging socialization and normalcy.
- Participate in research and quality improvement initiatives related to child life services and patient care.
- Stay updated on current trends and best practices in child life and healthcare, continuously seeking opportunities for professional growth and development.
- Foster a culture of compassion, empathy, and respect within the child life team and the entire hospital community.
Certification As A Child Life Specialist Through The Association Of Child Life Professionals.
Master's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or Related Field.
Minimum Of 5 Years Experience As A Certified Child Life Specialist In A Pediatric Healthcare Setting.
Experience Developing And Implementing Programs And Interventions For Children And Families In A Hospital Setting.
Strong Understanding Of Child Development And The Impact Of Illness And Hospitalization On Children And Families.
