Job Description

Children's Hospital Colorado is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Trauma Registrar. In this role, you will play a crucial role in accurately documenting and maintaining records for patients who have experienced traumatic injuries. We are looking for someone with excellent communication and analytical skills, as well as a thorough understanding of medical terminology and coding.   1. Accurately document and maintain medical records for patients who have experienced traumatic injuries.
  2. Ensure all records are complete, up-to-date, and in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
  3. Collect and analyze data related to trauma patient demographics, injuries, treatments, and outcomes.
  4. Collaborate with medical staff, nursing teams, and other departments to obtain and verify information for patient records.
  5. Utilize electronic medical records systems to enter and retrieve patient information.
  6. Code and classify diagnoses, procedures, and treatments according to established protocols and guidelines.
  7. Identify and report any errors or discrepancies in medical records to appropriate personnel.
  8. Communicate with patients and their families to obtain necessary information and provide updates on record keeping processes and procedures.
  9. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations in handling sensitive medical information.
  10. Stay current on industry standards and best practices for trauma record keeping and data collection.
  11. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits to ensure accuracy and completeness of trauma records.
  12. Provide training and support to medical staff and other team members on proper record keeping protocols and procedures.
  13. Serve as a resource for coding and documentation questions or concerns.
  14. Embody the hospital's mission and values in all interactions and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
  15. Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and growth in the field of trauma registry.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Health Information Management, Nursing, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In A Trauma Registry Or Related Healthcare Setting.

  • Certified Specialist In Trauma Registry (Cstr) Certification Or Willingness To Obtain Within 1 Year Of Hire.

  • Strong Understanding Of Icd-10-Cm And Ais Coding Systems.

  • Excellent Organizational And Communication Skills, With The Ability To Work Independently And As Part Of A Multidisciplinary Team.
