- Sterilize and arrange surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide necessary supplies and equipment during procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of surgical supplies and equipment used.
- Adhere to strict infection control and safety protocols.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Collaborate with surgical team members to promptly address any emergencies or complications during procedures.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with patients, families, and medical staff.
- Continuously monitor and report any changes in patient condition to the surgical team.
- Remain up-to-date with current surgical techniques and technology.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
- Maintain a clean and organized surgical environment.

- Provide emotional support to patients and their families during stressful situations.

Completion Of An Accredited Surgical Technologist Program: Candidates For This Position Should Have Completed A Formal Education Program In Surgical Technology From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That They Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform In The Role Of A Surgical Technician.
Certification As A Surgical Technologist: A Valid Certification From The National Board Of Surgical Technology And Surgical Assisting (Nbstsa) Is Preferred For This Position. This Certification Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Met The National Standards For Surgical Technology And Has Passed A Rigorous Exam.
Experience In Pediatric Surgery: Children's Hospital Colorado Specializes In Pediatric Surgery, So Candidates With Experience In This Field Will Be Preferred. Experience In A Pediatric Setting Demonstrates An Understanding Of The Unique Needs And Considerations When Working With Children In A Surgical Setting.
Strong Knowledge Of Surgical Procedures And Equipment: A Successful Surgical Technician Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Surgical Procedures, Instruments, And Equipment. This Includes Knowledge Of Sterile Techniques, Surgical Instrumentation, And Surgical Equipment Maintenance And Troubleshooting.
Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: Working In A Surgical Team Requires Effective Communication And Collaboration With Surgeons, Nurses, Anesthesiologists, And Other Healthcare Professionals. A Surgical Technician Must Have Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills To Ensure The Safety And Success Of Each Surgical Procedure.
