
Polysomnographic Technician

- Conduct sleep studies: Perform overnight polysomnography (PSG) testing on pediatric patients to gather data and assist in the diagnosis of sleep disorders.
- Analyze data: Review and interpret sleep study results, including electroencephalograms (EEG), electrocardiograms (ECG), and respiratory and movement patterns, to aid in diagnosing sleep disorders.
- Monitor patients: Monitor patients during sleep studies to ensure their safety and comfort, and make adjustments as needed.
- Educate patients and families: Communicate test results and provide education to patients and their families about sleep disorders and treatment options.
- Maintain equipment: Ensure all equipment used in sleep studies is properly set up, calibrated, and maintained for accurate results.
- Record and document results: Accurately record and document all test results and observations from sleep studies.
- Collaborate with healthcare team: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients with sleep disorders.
- Stay updated on industry developments: Keep up-to-date with advancements in polysomnographic technology and techniques, and incorporate new knowledge into daily practice.
- Maintain confidentiality: Ensure patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations when handling sensitive information.
- Provide excellent patient care: Demonstrate empathy and compassion towards patients and their families, and maintain a child-friendly and welcoming environment in the sleep study room.
- Adhere to safety protocols: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of patients and staff during sleep studies.
- Attend training and meetings: Attend training sessions and team meetings to stay informed about hospital policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Collaborate with other departments: Work collaboratively with other departments, such as respiratory therapy and neurology, to provide coordinated care for patients with complex sleep disorders.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment: Ensure the sleep study room and all equipment are clean and organized at all times.

Completion Of An Accredited Polysomnographic Technology Program: Candidates Should Have Completed A Formal Program In Polysomnographic Technology, Which Includes Coursework In Anatomy And Physiology, Sleep Disorders, Instrumentation, And Patient Care.
Certification By The Board Of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (Brpt): A Valid Rpsgt Certification Is Required For This Position, Demonstrating Proficiency And Knowledge In The Field Of Sleep Medicine.
Previous Experience In Pediatric Sleep Studies: Children's Hospital Colorado Specifically Requires Candidates To Have Experience In Conducting And Scoring Sleep Studies In Pediatric Patients, As They Will Be Working Primarily With Children.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Polysomnographic Technicians At Children's Hospital Colorado Will Be Working Closely With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Providers. Therefore, Candidates Must Possess Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Communicate Test Results And Provide Support To Patients And Families.
Ability To Work Flexible Hours And Be On-Call: This Position Requires Flexibility In Working Hours, As Sleep Studies May Need To Be Conducted During Evenings, Weekends, And Holidays. Additionally, Candidates Should Be Available To Be On-Call For Emergency Sleep Studies.
