- Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood specimens from pediatric patients in a safe and efficient manner.
- Properly label and transport collected specimens to the laboratory for testing.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all phlebotomy procedures and patient information.
- Educate young patients and their families about the phlebotomy process and address any concerns or questions they may have.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper disposal of biohazardous materials.
- Follow all safety protocols and infection control measures to prevent cross-contamination and maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and provide assistance as needed.
- Handle difficult or anxious patients with care and compassion, utilizing appropriate techniques to ensure a positive experience.

- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations, to ensure high-quality patient care and compliance.
Certification In Phlebotomy: Candidates For A Phlebotomist Position At Children's Hospital Colorado Should Hold A Current Certification In Phlebotomy From A Recognized Accrediting Agency, Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Phlebotomy Association (Npa).
