Job Description

Children's Hospital Colorado is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Omnicell Pharmacy Technician to join our exceptional team.   1. Operate and maintain the Omnicell automated medication dispensing system to ensure accurate and timely dispensing of medications to patients.
  2. Monitor and troubleshoot any issues with the Omnicell system, including inventory discrepancies and malfunctioning equipment.
  3. Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure proper medication orders and dosages are entered into the Omnicell system.
  4. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe and secure environment for medication storage and dispensing.
  5. Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations related to pharmacy and medication management.
  6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of medication inventory, usage, and expiration dates.
  7. Train and educate other pharmacy staff on the proper use and maintenance of the Omnicell system.
  8. Assist in medication preparation and compounding as needed.
  9. Provide excellent customer service to patients and families, addressing any concerns or questions related to the Omnicell system.
  10. Continuously seek opportunities for improvement in the use and efficiency of the Omnicell system to enhance patient care.
  11. Adhere to the hospital's policies and procedures, including infection control and confidentiality.
  12. Participate in continuing education to stay current with industry standards and best practices related to Omnicell technology.
  13. Maintain a professional and compassionate attitude towards patients, families, and colleagues at all times.
  14. Collaborate with other members of the pharmacy team to ensure a seamless and coordinated approach to patient care.
  15. Any other duties as assigned by the pharmacy manager or supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required For This Position. Additional Education Or Training In Pharmacy Technology Is Preferred.

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification: Candidates Must Have A Valid Pharmacy Technician Certification From An Accredited Organization Such As The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (Ptcb).

  • Prior Experience In A Pharmacy Setting: Previous Experience Working As A Pharmacy Technician In A Hospital Or Retail Pharmacy Setting Is Preferred. Experience With Omnicell Automation Systems Is A Plus.

  • Knowledge Of Pharmaceutical Calculations And Terminology: This Position Requires A Strong Understanding Of Pharmaceutical Calculations And Terminology, Including Knowledge Of Medication Dosages, Routes Of Administration, And Drug Interactions.

  • Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: The Ability To Communicate Effectively With Pharmacists, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals Is Essential In This Role. Strong Teamwork Skills Are Also Necessary To Work Collaboratively With Other Pharmacy Technicians And Staff Members.
