  1. Oversee the safe and effective use of medications for pediatric patients at Children's Hospital Colorado.
  2. Develop and implement medication safety protocols and procedures to ensure the highest level of patient safety.
  3. Conduct regular audits and reviews of medication processes to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.
  4. Collaborate with medical staff, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to promote a culture of medication safety.
  5. Educate and train hospital staff on proper medication administration and storage.
  6. Stay current on best practices and industry standards for medication safety and make recommendations for updates to hospital policies and procedures.
  7. Investigate and report any medication errors or adverse drug reactions.
  8. Monitor and track medication-related incidents and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.
  9. Serve as a resource for staff and patients regarding medication safety concerns and questions.
  10. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to medication safety.
  11. Participate in hospital committees and initiatives related to medication safety.
  12. Continuously evaluate and improve medication safety processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  13. Provide support and guidance to staff during medication recalls and shortages.
  14. Collaborate with pharmacy and purchasing departments to ensure safe medication storage and availability.
  15. Communicate with patients and families about medication safety and answer any questions or concerns.
  16. Act as a liaison with outside organizations and agencies regarding medication safety initiatives and regulations.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Pharmacy Or Related Field, With A Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Medication Safety Or A Related Role.

  • Extensive Knowledge Of Medication Safety Practices, Regulations, And Best Practices In A Pediatric Healthcare Setting.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Identify And Implement Solutions To Prevent Medication Errors.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate Effectively With Healthcare Professionals, Patients, And Families.

  • Certified Professional In Patient Safety (Cpps) Or Other Relevant Certification Preferred.
