  1. Serve as the primary point of contact for all interpretation needs within Children's Hospital Colorado, ensuring that all communication between patients and healthcare providers is accurate and effective.
  2. Utilize fluency in multiple languages to provide interpretation services for patients and families who may have limited English proficiency, ensuring that they fully understand their medical care and treatment options.
  3. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology in multiple languages in order to accurately interpret medical conversations and procedures.
  4. Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure that all medical information is accurately translated and conveyed to patients and families.
  5. Work closely with other members of the healthcare team to provide culturally sensitive care to patients and families from diverse backgrounds.
  6. Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations when handling sensitive medical information.
  7. Act as a cultural liaison between patients and healthcare providers to facilitate understanding and promote a positive and respectful healthcare experience.
  8. Continuously strive to improve interpretation skills and medical knowledge through training and professional development opportunities.
  9. Maintain accurate and organized records of interpretation services provided to patients and families.
  10. Serve as a role model and mentor for other medical interpreters, providing guidance and support as needed.

Job Qualifications
  • Fluency In At Least Two Languages, Including English And A Second Language Commonly Spoken By Patient Families (Such As Spanish, Mandarin, Or Arabic).

  • Bachelor's Degree In Interpretation Studies, Linguistics, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience As A Medical Interpreter, Preferably In A Pediatric Setting.

  • National Certification As A Medical Interpreter (Such As Cchi Or Nbcmi) Or Willingness To Obtain Certification Within The First Year Of Employment.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Procedures, As Well As Cultural Competency And Sensitivity When Working With Diverse Patient Populations.
