We are currently seeking a Director of Patient Safety to join our dedicated team. As the Director of Patient Safety, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients, families, and staff.   1. Develop and implement patient safety policies and procedures in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  2. Oversee and monitor the effectiveness of patient safety protocols and identify areas for improvement.
  3. Collaborate with department heads and staff to ensure adherence to patient safety standards and procedures.
  4. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  5. Lead and facilitate patient safety and quality improvement committees and initiatives.
  6. Train and educate staff on patient safety protocols and procedures.
  7. Investigate and analyze patient safety incidents, near misses, and adverse events, and develop action plans to prevent future occurrences.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with external organizations and agencies to stay current on patient safety best practices.
  9. Keep up-to-date with industry developments and trends related to patient safety.
  10. Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans for the hospital.
  11. Communicate with patients, families, and staff regarding patient safety and address any concerns or questions.
  12. Foster a culture of safety by promoting open communication and transparency.
  13. Monitor and report on patient safety metrics and outcomes to hospital leadership.
  14. Participate in hospital-wide quality improvement efforts and initiatives.
  15. Represent the hospital in patient safety related meetings and conferences.

Job Qualifications
  • Education In Healthcare: A Director Of Patient Safety At Children's Hospital Colorado Should Have A Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In A Healthcare-Related Field, Such As Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Or Public Health. This Education Provides A Strong Foundation For Understanding The Complexities Of Patient Safety In A Hospital Setting.

  • Experience In Patient Safety: The Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Have At Least 5-7 Years Of Experience In A Patient Safety Role, Preferably In A Pediatric Healthcare Setting. This Experience Should Include Developing And Implementing Patient Safety Programs, Conducting Incident Investigations, And Analyzing Data To Identify Areas For Improvement.

  • Knowledge Of Regulatory Requirements: Children's Hospital Colorado Is Subject To Various Regulatory Requirements, Including Those From The Joint Commission And The Centers For Medicare And Medicaid Services. The Director Of Patient Safety Should Have A Strong Understanding Of These Requirements And Be Able To Ensure Compliance While Also Promoting A Culture Of Patient Safety.

  • Leadership Skills: As A Director-Level Position, Strong Leadership Skills Are Essential For Success In This Role. The Candidate Should Have Experience Leading And Managing A Team, As Well As The Ability To Collaborate With Other Departments And Stakeholders To Promote A Culture Of Safety.

  • Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Director Of Patient Safety Will Be Responsible For Communicating With Various Levels Of Staff, From Frontline Nurses To Executive Leadership. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Critical For This Role. The Candidate Should Be Able To Effectively Convey Complex Information And Influence Change Through Effective Communication.
