Job Description

You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to provide developmentally appropriate interventions and activities that promote emotional well-being and enhance the hospital experience for our young patients.To excel in this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, or a related field, as well as certification from the Child Life Council.   1. Provide developmentally appropriate interventions and activities for children in the hospital to promote emotional well-being and enhance their hospital experience.
  2. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to assess the needs of young patients and develop individualized care plans.
  3. Use a variety of techniques, such as play therapy and art therapy, to help children cope with the challenges of hospitalization and medical procedures.
  4. Offer emotional support and guidance to children and their families throughout their hospital stay.
  5. Educate and prepare children for medical procedures and surgeries to reduce anxiety and increase their understanding.
  6. Utilize knowledge of child development to support children's growth and development during their hospitalization.
  7. Maintain accurate and detailed records of interventions and progress for each patient.
  8. Communicate and collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for children.
  9. Stay current on research and best practices in child life and apply this knowledge to enhance the care provided to young patients.
  10. Participate in hospital-wide initiatives and programs to promote the well-being of children and families.
  11. Advocate for the needs and rights of children in the hospital setting.
  12. Continuously assess and evaluate the effectiveness of child life interventions and adjust as needed.
  13. Provide emotional support and debriefing for staff dealing with difficult cases or situations.
  14. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions with patients and families.
  15. Act as a resource and provide guidance to other healthcare professionals on child and family dynamics and the role of child life in the hospital setting.
  16. Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain certification from the Child Life Council.
  17. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of patients, families, and staff.
  18. Show compassion, empathy, and patience in all interactions with children and their families.
  19. Use effective communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Job Qualifications
