3. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create a plan of care that meets the specific needs of each patient.
4. Utilize knowledge of child development and medical procedures to prepare patients for medical tests and procedures in a developmentally appropriate and non-threatening manner.
5. Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families to help them cope with the stress of illness, hospitalization, and medical procedures.
6. Advocate for the psychosocial needs of patients and their families, ensuring that their voices are heard and their concerns are addressed.
7. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient interactions and progress.
8. Educate and train hospital staff, volunteers, and caregivers on age-appropriate communication techniques and ways to support the emotional well-being of pediatric patients.
9. Collaborate with community organizations and volunteers to organize special events and activities for patients and their families.
10. Stay updated on current research and best practices in the field of child life and integrate this knowledge into practice.
11. Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
12. Participate in performance improvement initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the Child Life program at Children's Hospital Colorado.
