Child Life Specialist - CICU/CPCU

1. Provide emotional and psychosocial support to children and their families during their time at the hospital.
2. Create a supportive and nurturing environment for children facing medical challenges.
3. Develop and implement specialized interventions and activities to help children cope with their medical experiences.
4. Collaborate with medical staff to ensure an integrated approach to patient care.
5. Conduct assessments to identify the unique needs of each patient and develop individualized care plans.
6. Educate and prepare children for medical procedures in a developmentally appropriate and sensitive manner.
7. Offer support and guidance to families, helping them to navigate the challenges of having a child in the hospital.
8. Advocate for the needs and rights of children and their families within the hospital setting.
9. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient interactions and progress.
10. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to provide insight and support for patient care.
11. Stay up-to-date on best practices in child life and incorporate them into daily practice.
12. Develop and maintain positive relationships with patients, families, and hospital staff.
13. Serve as a resource and provide support to colleagues and volunteers in the child life department.
14. Continually evaluate and improve child life services provided in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and Cardiac Progressive Care Unit.
15. Adhere to ethical and professional standards in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
