- Provide emotional and developmental support to pediatric patients and their families during hospital stays.
- Assist Child Life Specialists in implementing therapeutic play and activities to promote coping and positive experiences for patients.
- Use knowledge of child development to create appropriate interventions and activities tailored to each patient's needs.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
- Assist in maintaining inventory and organization of playrooms, supplies, and toys.
- Document patient interactions and progress in medical records.
- Participate in child life team meetings and contribute ideas for enhancing patient experiences.
- Stay updated on best practices and research in child life and incorporate these into daily interactions with patients.
- Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and sensitivity towards patients and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Collaborate with other hospital departments to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
- Adhere to confidentiality and privacy policies when working with patient information.
- Engage in self-care practices to maintain personal well-being and prevent burnout.
- Continuously strive to improve and enhance the Child Life program at Children's Hospital Colorado.
Bachelor's Degree In Child Development, Child Life, Psychology, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working With Children In A Healthcare Or Child Life Setting.
Knowledge Of Child Development And Understanding Of The Impact Of Illness And Hospitalization On Children And Families.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Children Of All Ages, Families, And Healthcare Professionals.
Certification As A Child Life Specialist Or Eligibility To Sit For The Child Life Professional Certification Exam Preferred.
