
Behavioral Health Specialist - ED

- Conduct assessments and screenings to identify mental health needs of children and families in the Emergency Department.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to children and families in crisis.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop treatment plans and provide ongoing support and interventions.
- Utilize evidence-based practices to provide individual and group therapy to children and families.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all patient interactions and treatment plans.
- Advocate for the mental health needs of children and families within the Emergency Department and throughout the hospital.
- Stay current on best practices and research in the field of behavioral health to continually improve patient care.
- Provide education and support to families and staff on behavioral health topics.
- Participate in regular team meetings and case conferences to discuss treatment plans and progress.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all ethical and legal standards in patient care.
- Collaborate with community resources to ensure continuity of care for patients and families.
- Remain calm and composed in high-stress situations and be able to think quickly and make sound decisions.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Children's Hospital Colorado in all interactions.
- Act as a positive role model and mentor for other staff members and students.
Master's Degree In Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Behavioral Health, Preferably In An Emergency Department Setting.
Knowledge And Understanding Of Child And Adolescent Mental Health Disorders And Treatment Modalities.
Ability To Assess And Manage Crisis Situations, Including Risk Assessment And Safety Planning.
Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills, Including Experience Working With Interdisciplinary Teams And Community Resources.
