The California Department of Toxic Substances Control is an agency of the government of the state of California. The mission of the DTSC is to protect public health and the environment from toxic harm.

A state constitution is a document that lays down the governmental structure, political processes, and limitations on the use of power by a state. Most Americans have more daily contact with their state and local governments than with the federal government. Under the U.S. Constitution, states possess all powers not specifically granted to the federal government. State governments oversee things like Driver's licenses, Vehicle registration, Driver's records, Birth certificates, Death certificates, and Unemployment compensation to name a few. All state governments are modeled after the federal government and consist of three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. Each state has its own written constitution, and these documents are often far more elaborate than their federal counterpart.
