
Writer for the Life Sciences
The Writer for the Life Sciences serves as part of the News and Editorial Development unit in the Office of University Communications. The writer is a strategist and cross-platform content producer who develops and guides editorial content for externally facing communications about the teaching, research and service missions of the University, with a special emphasis on the life sciences. S/he develops and maintains a relationship with academic and administrative units in the life sciences to help further their goals to promote their faculty, students, programs and events via news releases, websites, online and print publications, and other strategic vehicles intended to demonstrate the programs’ strengths among external audiences.
Five years of professional experience in science or health journalism, public affairs and/or media relations
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing news coverage plans
Experience developing effective messaging tailored to audiences
Demonstrated ability to research information, conduct effective interviews and write well and quickly
