This role is crucial to the success of our graduate programs in psychology, as it oversees the clinical training experiences of our students.   1. Oversee and manage all aspects of the clinical training program for graduate students in psychology.
  2. Develop and maintain partnerships with local mental health agencies and organizations to secure clinical training opportunities for students.
  3. Create and implement a comprehensive training curriculum for students, incorporating both academic and spiritual components.
  4. Provide guidance and mentorship to students throughout their clinical training, ensuring they are meeting program requirements and gaining valuable experience.
  5. Monitor and evaluate student progress and performance, providing constructive feedback and support as needed.
  6. Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate clinical training into the overall curriculum and educational experience.
  7. Stay up-to-date on industry standards and best practices in clinical training, making necessary adjustments to the program as needed.
  8. Serve as a liaison between the university and external agencies to ensure a positive and professional relationship.
  9. Recruit and hire qualified clinical supervisors to oversee students’ training experiences.
  10. Maintain accurate records and documentation of students’ clinical training hours and progress.
  11. Uphold the mission and values of Biola University in all aspects of the clinical training program.
  12. Support and participate in university events and initiatives related to spiritual formation and Christian education.
  13. Collaborate with other university departments to promote the clinical training program and recruit potential students.
  14. Conduct regular evaluations and assessments of the clinical training program, making recommendations for improvements and enhancements.
  15. Serve as a role model and mentor for students, exemplifying Christian values and principles in all interactions.

Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree In Clinical Psychology Or Related Field: The Director Of Clinical Training Should Have A Minimum Of A Doctoral Degree In Clinical Psychology Or A Related Field, Such As Counseling Psychology Or Marriage And Family Therapy.

  • Licensure As A Psychologist Or Therapist: The Ideal Candidate Should Be Licensed As A Psychologist Or Therapist In The State Of California, Or Be Eligible For Licensure Within A Reasonable Timeframe.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Clinical Experience: The Director Should Have At Least 5 Years Of Experience Working In A Clinical Setting, Providing Therapy Or Psychological Assessments. Experience In A University Counseling Center Or Other Academic Setting Is Preferred.

  • Previous Supervisory Experience: The Director Should Have Experience Supervising And Mentoring Trainees, Such As Doctoral Students Or Interns. Experience In Developing And Implementing Training Programs Is Also Desirable.

  • Knowledge Of Apa Accreditation Guidelines: Familiarity With The American Psychological Association (Apa) Guidelines For Accreditation Of Doctoral Programs In Clinical Psychology Is Important For Ensuring That The Program Meets The Necessary Standards. Previous Experience With Program Accreditation Is A Plus.
