Staff Accountant Inventory Control

1. Maintain accurate inventory records for all products sold by Big Lots.
2. Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile any discrepancies.
3. Monitor inventory levels and communicate with the purchasing team to ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained.
4. Perform cost accounting for all products, including calculating landed costs and tracking manufacturing costs.
5. Review and analyze inventory reports to identify trends and potential issues.
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper inventory management processes are followed.
7. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries and reconciling inventory accounts.
8. Develop and implement inventory control procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
9. Communicate with vendors regarding inventory discrepancies and work to resolve any issues.
10. Stay up-to-date on industry standards and regulations related to inventory management and cost accounting.
11. Support the finance team with ad-hoc projects and analysis as needed.
12. Participate in inventory audits and assist with developing action plans to address any findings.
13. Train and provide guidance to junior staff members on inventory control processes.
14. Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.
15. Continuously seek opportunities to improve and streamline inventory processes.
