As a leader in our company, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing closeout and imported merchandise for our stores nationwide. Develop and implement effective strategies for sourcing and purchasing closeout and imported merchandise for the company's stores.
Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to obtain the best deals and maximize profitability.
Stay updated on industry trends and market conditions to make informed purchasing decisions.
Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and actively seek out new suppliers to expand the company's product offerings.
Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify potential opportunities for cost savings and increased sales.
Create and manage budgets for purchasing expenses and ensure that purchases are within budgetary constraints.
Collaborate with other departments, such as marketing and operations, to ensure alignment and successful execution of purchasing strategies.
Oversee and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize excess inventory.
Monitor and analyze sales data to identify top-selling products and make recommendations for future purchasing decisions.
Train and mentor junior buying team members to develop their skills and knowledge in purchasing and negotiation.
Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards in purchasing and supplier relationships.
Continuously review and improve purchasing processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and attend industry trade shows and events to stay informed about new products and trends.
Act as a representative of the company in negotiations and maintain a professional and positive image at all times.

Job Qualifications

Extensive Experience In Import And Closeout Buying: A Senior Buyer In This Role Should Have A Minimum Of 5-7 Years Of Experience In Buying Closeout And Import Products. This Experience Should Include Negotiating With Overseas Vendors, Managing Product Logistics, And Ensuring Timely Delivery Of Goods.
Strong Analytical And Negotiation Skills: A Senior Buyer Must Possess Strong Analytical Skills To Analyze Data And Make Informed Buying Decisions. They Should Also Have Exceptional Negotiation Skills To Secure The Best Deals With Vendors And Suppliers.
Proficiency In Supply Chain Management: The Role Of A Senior Buyer In Closeout And Import Requires A Thorough Understanding Of Supply Chain Management. This Includes Knowledge Of International Shipping, Customs Regulations, And Inventory Management.
Proven Track Record Of Meeting Sales Targets: Big Lots Is A High-Volume Retail Chain, And The Senior Buyer In This Role Will Be Responsible For Meeting Sales Targets. Therefore, Candidates Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Achieving And Exceeding Sales Goals In A Similar Buying Position.
Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills: As A Senior Buyer, The Candidate Will Be Required To Work Closely With Cross-Functional Teams, Including Merchandising, Planning, And Logistics. They Should Have Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Collaborate And Lead These Teams Towards Achieving Business Objectives.
