Job Description

As a Merchandise Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our stores are stocked with the best products at the right time.   1. Collaborate with buying and planning teams to develop and implement merchandise strategies that align with company goals and customer demands.
  2. Monitor inventory levels and assist in creating purchase orders to maintain optimal stock levels in all stores.
  3. Conduct regular store visits to assess product placement, displays, and stock levels.
  4. Analyze sales data and customer feedback to identify trends and make recommendations for product assortment and placement.
  5. Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of products and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  6. Work closely with store managers and staff to ensure merchandise is displayed and promoted effectively.
  7. Conduct regular audits of inventory to identify any discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  8. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams.
  9. Train and mentor store staff on merchandise presentation and sales techniques.
  10. Stay updated on market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to make informed merchandise decisions.
  11. Manage and track merchandise returns and exchanges.
  12. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures regarding inventory management.
  13. Coordinate with marketing and advertising teams to plan and execute promotions and sales events.
  14. Monitor and report on sales and inventory performance to upper management.
  15. Continuously seek out opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.

  • Strong Organizational Skills: A Merchandise Coordinator At Big Lots Must Have Excellent Organizational Skills In Order To Manage Inventory, Track Product Shipments, And Maintain A Well-Organized Store Layout.

  • Attention To Detail: As A Merchandise Coordinator, It Is Important To Have A Keen Eye For Detail In Order To Ensure That Products Are Displayed Correctly And Accurately Labeled. This Also Includes Identifying Any Discrepancies In Inventory And Addressing Them Promptly.

  • Strong Communication Skills: A Merchandise Coordinator Must Have Strong Communication Skills To Effectively Communicate With Team Members, Store Management, And Vendors To Ensure Smooth Operations And Timely Delivery Of Products.

  • Retail Experience: Prior Experience In A Retail Environment, Preferably In A Similar Role, Is Often Required For A Merchandise Coordinator Position At Big Lots. This Experience Can Help Individuals Understand The Dynamics Of The Retail Industry And The Company's Specific Processes.

  • Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: Big Lots Is A Fast-Paced Retail Environment, And A Merchandise Coordinator Must Be Able To Thrive In This Kind Of Setting. They Must Be Able To Multitask, Prioritize Tasks, And Work Efficiently To Meet Tight Deadlines And Sales Goals.
