- Monitor and maintain inventory levels to ensure adequate stock is available for customers.
- Create and implement merchandising plans to effectively display and promote products in-store.
- Collaborate with buyers and vendors to source and select high-quality merchandise at affordable prices.
- Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, customer preferences, and competitor offerings.
- Train and supervise store associates on proper merchandising techniques and display standards.
- Regularly review and analyze sales data to identify opportunities for improvement and make recommendations for adjustments to merchandising strategies.
- Ensure all products are accurately priced and labeled according to company standards.
- Communicate with other departments, such as logistics and marketing, to coordinate product shipments and promotions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including merchandise storage areas and display fixtures.
- Act as a point of contact for customer inquiries and complaints related to merchandise displays and availability.
- Collaborate with store management to develop and implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction and drive sales.
- Stay updated on company policies and procedures, as well as industry regulations, to ensure compliance.
- Identify potential risks and take appropriate action to prevent loss or damage to inventory.
- Attend training and development programs to continuously improve knowledge and skills related to merchandising.
- Participate in store meetings and provide feedback and suggestions for improvement to enhance the overall shopping experience for customers.
Retail Experience: Candidates Should Have At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience In A Retail Environment, Preferably In A Merchandise Coordination Or Management Role.
Strong Organizational Skills: Merchandise Coordinators Are Responsible For Ensuring That Products Are Properly Displayed And Stocked In The Store. This Requires Excellent Organizational Skills And Attention To Detail.
Knowledge Of Inventory Management: Candidates Should Have A Good Understanding Of Inventory Management Principles And Be Able To Track And Analyze Inventory Levels To Ensure Optimal Stock Levels.
Communication Skills: Merchandise Coordinators Need To Communicate Regularly With Other Members Of The Store Team, As Well As Vendors And Suppliers. Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills Are Essential For Success In This Role.
Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: Big Lots Is A Fast-Paced Retail Environment, And Merchandise Coordinators Should Be Able To Thrive In A Busy And Dynamic Setting. This Includes Being Able To Multitask, Work Under Pressure, And Meet Tight Deadlines.
