Oversee the timely and efficient processing of incoming freight.
Ensure all freight is accurately received, sorted, and distributed to the appropriate areas.
Train and supervise a team of freight processors to ensure all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
Maintain a clean and organized work area for the processing of freight.
Communicate effectively with team members and other store departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or discrepancies with incoming freight.
Monitor inventory levels and assist in restocking merchandise as needed.
Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when handling and processing freight.
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures when handling and moving heavy items.
Collaborate with management to develop and implement strategies for improving freight processing and inventory management.
Provide exceptional customer service by assisting with any questions or concerns related to freight.
Maintain a positive and professional attitude while representing the Big Lots brand.
Continuously evaluate and improve processes to increase efficiency and productivity.
Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

Job Qualifications

Previous Experience In A Leadership Role: A Freight Processing Lead At Big Lots Should Have Prior Experience In A Leadership Position, Preferably In A Retail Or Warehouse Environment. This Will Demonstrate Their Ability To Effectively Manage A Team And Lead Them Towards Success.
Excellent Organizational Skills: The Role Of A Freight Processing Lead Requires Strong Organizational Skills To Ensure That All Shipments Are Processed And Distributed Accurately And Efficiently. Candidates Should Have Experience In Managing Inventory And Maintaining A Well-Organized Warehouse.
Knowledge Of Freight Processing Procedures: Candidates For This Role Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Freight Processing Procedures, Including Receiving, Sorting, And Distributing Merchandise. This Will Help Them Effectively Train And Supervise Their Team Members.
Strong Communication Skills: As A Leader, A Freight Processing Lead Must Have Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Delegate Tasks, Provide Feedback, And Collaborate With Other Departments. This Includes Written And Verbal Communication Skills.
Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: Big Lots Is A Busy Retail Environment, And The Freight Processing Lead Must Be Able To Thrive In A Fast-Paced Setting. This Includes The Ability To Multitask, Work Under Pressure, And Meet Tight Deadlines While Maintaining A High Level Of Accuracy And Attention To Detail.
