As a leader in our freight processing department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of incoming and outgoing merchandise. Oversee the daily operations of the freight processing department, including managing a team of employees and delegating tasks accordingly.
Ensure that all incoming and outgoing merchandise is processed in a timely and accurate manner.
Monitor and maintain inventory levels to ensure product availability for customers.
Create and implement efficient and effective processes for receiving, unpacking, and organizing merchandise.
Train and mentor team members on proper handling and organization of merchandise.
Collaborate with other departments to coordinate freight processing schedules and prioritize shipments.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote safety and efficiency.
Address and resolve any issues or concerns related to freight processing, including damaged or missing items.
Monitor and adhere to company policies and procedures related to freight processing, including safety regulations and inventory management.
Continuously look for ways to improve processes and increase productivity within the freight processing department.
Communicate effectively with team members and management, providing updates and reporting any discrepancies or challenges.
Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic and positive attitude towards achieving company goals.

Job Qualifications

Previous Experience In A Leadership Role: A Freight Processing Lead At Big Lots Must Have Prior Experience In A Leadership Role, Preferably In A Retail Or Warehouse Environment. This Experience Should Demonstrate The Ability To Effectively Manage A Team And Meet Performance Goals.
Strong Organizational And Time-Management Skills: The Role Of A Freight Processing Lead Requires The Ability To Prioritize Tasks, Delegate Responsibilities, And Ensure That Freight Is Processed Efficiently And Accurately. This Requires Strong Organizational And Time-Management Skills.
Knowledge Of Warehouse Operations And Safety Procedures: The Freight Processing Lead Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Warehouse Operations, Including Receiving, Sorting, And Stocking Merchandise. They Must Also Be Well-Versed In Safety Procedures To Ensure A Safe Working Environment For All Team Members.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Leader, The Freight Processing Lead Must Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Communicate With Team Members, As Well As Other Departments Such As Merchandising And Store Management.
Physical Stamina And Ability To Lift Heavy Objects: This Role Involves Physical Labor, Including Lifting And Moving Heavy Merchandise. Therefore, The Ideal Candidate Should Have The Physical Stamina And Ability To Perform These Tasks Consistently And Safely.
