Big Lots is seeking a highly-motivated individual to join our team as a Freight Processing Lead. In this role, you will oversee the receiving, sorting, and processing of merchandise to ensure timely and accurate distribution to our stores. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in freight processing and possess excellent organizational and communication skills. Oversee the receiving, sorting, and processing of merchandise in a timely and accurate manner.
Ensure all freight is processed according to company standards and procedures.
Monitor and maintain inventory levels to meet store demands.
Train and supervise a team of freight processing associates.
Develop and implement efficient processes to improve productivity and accuracy.
Communicate with store management to prioritize and coordinate merchandise flow.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment in the freight processing area.
Handle any issues or discrepancies with incoming merchandise and work with vendors to resolve them.
Utilize inventory management systems to track and monitor merchandise flow.
Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Continuously monitor and adjust processes to ensure maximum efficiency and accuracy.
Create and maintain reports on freight processing activities for management review.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operation of the distribution process.
Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Motivate and lead the team to meet and exceed productivity goals.
Communicate any supply chain issues or delays to upper management.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures at all times.
Seek out and implement new strategies and technologies to improve freight processing operations.
Handle and resolve any customer complaints or concerns related to merchandise distribution.
Represent the company in a professional manner at all times.

Job Qualifications

Experience In Freight Processing: The Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Have At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience In Freight Processing, Preferably In A Retail Environment. They Should Be Familiar With Receiving, Sorting, And Organizing Merchandise Shipments.
Strong Organizational Skills: As A Freight Processing Lead, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Managing The Flow Of Merchandise In And Out Of The Store. They Should Have Excellent Organizational Skills To Ensure That All Shipments Are Received, Processed, And Stocked In A Timely And Efficient Manner.
Leadership Abilities: This Role Involves Supervising A Team Of Freight Processors, So The Candidate Should Possess Strong Leadership Skills. They Should Be Able To Delegate Tasks, Provide Constructive Feedback, And Motivate The Team To Meet Productivity Goals.
Attention To Detail: The Freight Processing Lead Is Responsible For Ensuring That Merchandise Is Accurately Received And Processed. Therefore, Attention To Detail Is Crucial To Avoid Errors And Discrepancies In Inventory.
Physical Stamina: This Is A Physically Demanding Job That Requires The Candidate To Lift And Move Heavy Boxes And Merchandise Regularly. They Should Be Able To Stand, Bend, And Lift For Extended Periods And Have The Physical Stamina To Keep Up With The Demands Of The Job.
