In this role, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of our merchandise shipments to our stores. Oversee all aspects of merchandise freight processing, including receiving, sorting, and organizing incoming shipments.
Ensure that all merchandise is accurately and efficiently processed and distributed to the appropriate store locations.
Manage and lead a team of freight processors, providing guidance and direction to ensure productivity and efficiency.
Maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail in all freight processing tasks.
Collaborate with store managers and other team members to coordinate and prioritize processing of merchandise based on store needs.
Monitor inventory levels and communicate any discrepancies or issues to appropriate parties.
Train and develop team members on proper freight processing procedures, safety protocols, and company policies.
Continuously monitor and improve processing procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Ensure compliance with all company and regulatory policies and procedures.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment by enforcing safety regulations and conducting regular equipment maintenance checks.
Communicate any supply or equipment needs to management in a timely manner.
Act as a positive role model for the team, promoting a strong work ethic and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Assist with other tasks and responsibilities as needed to support the overall success of the store and company.

Job Qualifications

Previous Experience In A Leadership Role: A Freight Processing Lead At Big Lots Should Have Previous Experience In A Leadership Role, Preferably In A Retail Or Logistics Environment. This Experience Will Demonstrate Their Ability To Effectively Manage And Motivate A Team.
Strong Organizational Skills: The Role Of Freight Processing Lead Requires The Ability To Prioritize And Manage Multiple Tasks While Maintaining A High Level Of Organization. This Includes Overseeing Inventory Management, Tracking Shipments, And Ensuring Timely Product Placement.
Knowledge Of Freight Processing Procedures: Candidates For This Role Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Freight Processing Procedures, Including Receiving, Unpacking, And Stocking Merchandise. Familiarity With Industry Best Practices And Safety Protocols Is Also Important.
Excellent Communication Skills: As A Leader, The Freight Processing Lead Will Be Responsible For Communicating With Various Team Members, As Well As Other Departments And Vendors. They Should Have Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills To Effectively Convey Information And Instructions.
Physical Stamina: This Role May Require Long Periods Of Standing, Bending, And Lifting Heavy Objects. The Ideal Candidate Should Be Physically Fit And Able To Handle The Physical Demands Of The Job. They Should Also Have The Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment And Meet Tight Deadlines.
