Freight Processing Lead

We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Freight Processing Lead to join our Big Lots family. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising the freight processing team and coordinating the receipt and organization of merchandise from vendors and our distribution centers. The ideal candidate for this position is a self-starter with solid problem-solving skills and a commitment to excellence.To be successful in this role, you should have a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a leadership role, preferably in a retail or warehouse environment. A Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field is preferred. You should also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

1. Train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of freight processing team members.
2. Monitor and manage the receipt and organization of merchandise from vendors and distribution centers.
3. Develop and implement processes and procedures to streamline freight processing operations.
4. Monitor inventory levels and assess space requirements for freight storage.
5. Create purchase orders and invoices, and monitor orders for accuracy.
6. Maintain records of shipment and delivery updates.
7. Liaise with vendors regarding orders and shipments.
8. Ensure all safety protocols are adhered to.
9. Identify any issues related to freight processing and take corrective action.
10. Provide exceptional customer service.
11. Represent the company in all interactions with customers and vendors.
