Job Description

At Big Lots, we are looking for an experienced Category Manager to help manage the procurement process and ensure the best value for our customers. This individual will need to have a passion for delivering outstanding results, strong analytical skills, and excellent procurement knowledge.The Category Manager will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to maximize opportunities for cost savings. This individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with current suppliers and identifying potential new sources of supply. This role requires a sharp eye for detail, strong negotiation and analytical skills, and the ability to work well within a team.The ideal candidate will have a degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Experience in a retail environment is preferred, but not required. The Category Manager should be results-focused, have strong communication skills, and be able to work effectively under pressure.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute strategies to ensure the best value for Big Lots customers.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with current suppliers and seek out potential new sources of supply.
  3. Manage the procurement process and ensure cost savings.
  4. Utilize strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  5. Monitor and report on performance against KPIs.
  6. Manage the category budget and ensure cost-effectiveness.
  7. Stay abreast of market trends and best practices in the procurement industry.
  8. Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of strategies and objectives.
  9. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on relevant matters.
  10. Prepare detailed reports and presentations on procurement related activities.
