Job Description

Are you a savvy and experienced Category Manager, Procurement, looking to join an innovative and exciting retail organization? Big Lots is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team! In this role, you'll have the opportunity to lead, develop, and execute strategic procurement initiatives that will have a direct and positive impact on our customers and the organization. The successful candidate will have excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization. We are looking for someone who is driven, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering results.To be considered for this position, you should have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, as well as five or more years of experience in a procurement role. Experience in retail or consumer products is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute strategic procurement initiatives that will have a direct and positive impact on customers and the organization.
  2. Identify and assess potential vendors and suppliers, and negotiate contracts and agreements.
  3. Monitor and analyze market trends to identify opportunities and recommend changes to existing procurement processes.
  4. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  5. Manage inventory levels of products to ensure availability and cost-effectiveness.
  6. Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  7. Analyze and report on key procurement metrics to senior leadership.
  8. Develop and implement strategies to reduce costs and increase profitability.
  9. Ensure timely delivery of products and services.
  10. Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth and efficient procurement process.
