Job Description

As a Category Manager, Procurement at Big Lots, you will be the go-to expert for all of our procurement needs. This is a highly strategic role, requiring a focus on optimizing processes and driving value for the organization. You will be responsible for the development and execution of category procurement strategies that reduce costs and drive efficiency while also ensuring the quality and compliance of materials and services.You must have a proven track record in Procurement and a strong understanding of supplier and market dynamics. You must also demonstrate excellent management and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and with a variety of stakeholders. Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze procurement needs and develop strategies to reduce costs and drive efficiency.
  2. Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality and compliance of materials and services.
  3. Monitor supplier performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  4. Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  5. Monitor the market for new opportunities and trends.
  6. Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth procurement process.
  7. Maintain accurate records and documentation of procurement activities.
  8. Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships.
  9. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  10. Analyze procurement data to identify areas of improvement.
