Job Description

We’re looking for a Category Manager to join the Procurement team at Big Lots and help drive our success into the future. This is a critical role that requires an individual with an entrepreneurial spirit, a deep understanding of the industry, and a passion for delivering the best service to our customers. The ideal candidate for this role should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, contract negotiation, and vendor management, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. They should also have excellent analytical skills, a proven track record of driving results, and the ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze and negotiate procurement contracts with vendors.
  2. Manage relationships with existing vendors and develop relationships with potential vendors.
  3. Monitor and report on the performance of vendors.
  4. Develop and implement category management strategies to ensure optimal performance.
  5. Monitor market trends and industry developments, and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvement.
  6. Regularly analyze pricing data and make adjustments to ensure competitiveness.
  7. Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure that procurement needs are met.
  8. Develop and maintain comprehensive category plans and strategies.
  9. Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of vendor information.
  10. Ensure compliance with all contractual and legal obligations.
