If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you as our Assistant Store Manager of Merchandising at Big Lots! As a member of our dynamic team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our store is always stocked, organized, and visually appealing for our customers. We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused individual who can lead and inspire our team to achieve sales and operational goals.   1. Oversee and manage the merchandising operations of the store, including product placement, displays, and inventory management.
  2. Create visually appealing displays and ensure that they are maintained to the company's standards.
  3. Train and develop team members on merchandising techniques and standards.
  4. Collaborate with the store manager to develop and implement merchandising strategies to drive sales and meet company goals.
  5. Monitor inventory levels and work with the buying team to ensure that the store has an adequate supply of products.
  6. Conduct regular store walkthroughs to ensure that all merchandise is properly stocked, organized, and priced.
  7. Analyze sales data and customer feedback to identify trends and make recommendations for changes or improvements to merchandising strategies.
  8. Ensure that all merchandise is properly labeled and priced according to company standards.
  9. Assist with the hiring, training, and performance evaluations of store associates.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including backroom and storage areas.
  11. Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols.
  12. Provide exceptional customer service and resolve any customer concerns or issues.
  13. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in merchandising.
  14. Act as a role model and leader for the store team, promoting a positive and productive work culture.
  15. Assist the store manager with any additional tasks or projects as needed.

Job Qualifications
  • Strong Merchandising Experience: A Successful Assistant Store Manager - Merchandising At Big Lots Should Have A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In A Retail Merchandising Role, Preferably In A Leadership Position. This Experience Should Include A Proven Track Record Of Developing And Executing Effective Merchandising Strategies.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: The Assistant Store Manager - Merchandising Must Have Strong Communication Skills To Effectively Communicate With Team Members, Store Managers, And Corporate Leadership. This Includes The Ability To Clearly Convey Merchandising Plans And Expectations, As Well As Provide Feedback And Coaching To Team Members.

  • Detail-Oriented And Organized: This Role Involves Overseeing The Day-To-Day Merchandising Operations Of The Store, Which Requires Strong Attention To Detail And Organizational Skills. The Ideal Candidate Should Be Able To Manage Multiple Tasks And Projects Simultaneously While Maintaining A High Level Of Accuracy And Ensuring All Merchandising Standards Are Met.

  • Team Leadership And Development: As A Leader In The Store, The Assistant Store Manager - Merchandising Must Have Experience In Coaching, Developing, And Motivating A Team. This Includes Setting Expectations, Providing Feedback, And Addressing Performance Issues As Needed. They Should Also Have A Collaborative Mindset And Be Able To Work Effectively With Other Store Managers And Corporate Teams.

  • Product Knowledge And Trend Awareness: A Successful Assistant Store Manager - Merchandising Should Have A Solid Understanding Of The Products Sold At Big Lots And Be Able To Identify And Capitalize On Merchandising Trends. This Includes Staying Up-To-Date On Industry Trends And Product Knowledge And Using This Knowledge To Make Strategic Merchandising Decisions.
