  1. Develop and implement merchandising strategies to drive sales and achieve store goals.
  2. Collaborate with Store Manager to create a visually appealing and well-organized sales floor.
  3. Oversee the merchandising process, including inventory management, product placement, and restocking.
  4. Train and coach store associates on proper merchandising techniques and standards.
  5. Monitor inventory levels and make recommendations for restocking and replenishing products.
  6. Conduct regular store walkthroughs to ensure visual standards are maintained and identify areas for improvement.
  7. Analyze sales data and provide insights to improve merchandising strategies.
  8. Work with vendors to negotiate pricing and ensure timely delivery of merchandise.
  9. Assist in the planning and execution of promotional events and sales campaigns.
  10. Monitor and maintain store compliance with company policies and procedures.
  11. Provide exceptional customer service and resolve any merchandising-related customer issues.
  12. Assist in hiring, training, and evaluating store associates.
  13. Manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines.
  14. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and competition to identify opportunities for improvement.
  15. Support Store Manager in all aspects of store operations as needed.

Job Qualifications
  • Previous Retail Experience: A Successful Assistant Store Manager In Merchandising Should Have Prior Experience Working In A Retail Environment, Preferably In A Leadership Role. This Experience Will Demonstrate Knowledge Of Store Operations, Merchandising Strategies, And Customer Service.

  • Strong Merchandising Skills: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess Strong Merchandising Skills, Including The Ability To Analyze Sales Data, Identify Trends, And Make Strategic Decisions To Improve Product Placement And Drive Sales. They Should Also Have An Eye For Visual Presentation And Be Able To Create Visually Appealing Displays.

  • Leadership And Management Skills: The Assistant Store Manager Will Be Responsible For Overseeing A Team Of Merchandising Associates. Therefore, Strong Leadership And Management Skills Are Essential. The Candidate Should Have Experience In Training, Motivating, And Managing A Team To Achieve Goals And Objectives.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: As An Assistant Store Manager, Effective Communication Is Key To Success. The Candidate Should Be Able To Communicate Clearly And Professionally With Team Members, Customers, And Upper Management. They Should Also Be Able To Give And Receive Feedback, Resolve Conflicts, And Provide Direction To Their Team.

  • Knowledge Of Inventory Management: The Assistant Store Manager Will Be Responsible For Managing Inventory Levels, Conducting Inventory Audits, And Ordering New Products As Needed. Therefore, A Strong Understanding Of Inventory Management Systems And Processes Is Necessary For This Role. Familiarity With Big Lots' Inventory Management Software Is A Plus.
