Job Description

At Big Lots, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Asset Protection Officer to join our team. Our ideal candidate will be a reliable, detail-oriented and organized individual, who is motivated to protect the assets of the company. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and have the ability to work both independently and in a team environment. The Asset Protection Officer will be responsible for identifying and responding to potential security threats, as well as providing a safe and secure environment for our employees and customers. Qualifications:• High School Diploma/GED required• Previous experience in security, loss prevention and/or law enforcement preferred• Must possess excellent organizational skills and be able to prioritize tasks and work on multiple projects simultaneously• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to multiple locations• Ability to maintain a professional and courteous demeanor in challenging situations• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and Outlook

Responsibilities:

• Monitor activity in the store and respond to potential security threats • Investigate suspicious activity and report any violations of company policy • Maintain a safe and secure environment for employees and customers • Provide customer service to ensure store security and safety • Enforce laws and regulations related to asset protection • Develop and implement security procedures and protocols • Conduct surveillance of store premises • Train and supervise security personnel and other staff • Investigate shoplifting and other criminal activity • Prepare detailed reports on incidents and investigations • Document information related to security activities • Maintain a current knowledge of local laws and regulations related to asset protection
