Job Description

Big Lots is looking for an experienced and dependable Asset Protection Officer to join our team and maintain the security of our stores in the local area. The ideal candidate for this role will be a knowledgeable and detail-oriented individual with a strong commitment to safety and security. In this position, you will be responsible for deterring and detecting incidents of shoplifting, vandalism, and other criminal activities while ensuring the store remains a safe environment for customers and associates.To be successful in this role, you must possess excellent observational skills, have the ability to enforce safety and security policies, and have a professional and courteous demeanor. You should also have a good understanding of store operations and be able to identify suspicious behavior. A valid driver’s license and the ability to work a flexible schedule are required for this position.

Responsibilities:

-Patrol the store premises to deter and detect any security-related incidents

-Enforce safety and security policies to protect customers and associates

-Investigate occurrences of shoplifting, vandalism, and other criminal activities

-Monitor store activities to identify suspicious behavior

-Conduct loss prevention audits and document findings

-Intervene in shoplifting, vandalism, and other security-related incidents

-Provide customer service assistance and de-escalate potentially dangerous situations

-Answer customer inquiries and provide guidance when needed

-Keep up to date with all local laws and regulations related to store security

-Maintain records of security-related activities

-Perform regular maintenance and repair of security equipment

-Collaborate with store management to ensure a secure and safe environment

-Ability to work a flexible schedule and possess a valid driver’s license
