Animal Health Technician

Bergen County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is looking for a full-time Animal Health Technician to become member of our medical team. We are an open admission municipal shelter adhering to a no-kill philosophy under the guidelines of the Asilomar Accords. Renders treatment and administers medication to sick or injured animals as directed by the Veterinarian. Performs preliminary examinations of animals to determine symptoms of disease or injury and reports findings to the veterinarian. Assists the veterinarian with surgery including sterilizing instruments, securing supplies, handling surgical instruments and disinfecting and cleaning up operating area. Under the direction of the Veterinarian, humanely euthanize animals. Disinfects cages for the control and eradication of disease and infection
