- Conduct thorough research on current and potential intellectual property assets of Becton Dickinson, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
- Identify potential intellectual property risks and provide recommendations for risk management.
- Draft and review legal documents related to intellectual property, such as licensing agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and cease and desist letters.
- Support the development of intellectual property strategies and policies for the company.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D and marketing, to ensure intellectual property protection is incorporated into product development and marketing strategies.
- Monitor and track intellectual property portfolio, including deadlines for filing and renewing patents and trademarks.
- Conduct due diligence reviews for potential mergers and acquisitions, assessing intellectual property assets and risks.
- Stay up-to-date on changes and developments in intellectual property laws and regulations, and proactively communicate updates and potential impacts to relevant stakeholders.
- Handle any intellectual property disputes, including working with external counsel and representing the company in legal proceedings.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all intellectual property assets, agreements, and legal documents.
- Educate and train employees on intellectual property laws, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with external counsel and manage relationships with outside law firms.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with intellectual property laws and policies within the company.
- Support the development and implementation of intellectual property training programs for employees.
- Provide support and guidance to other legal team members on intellectual property matters as needed.
Bachelor's Degree In Law Or Related Field: A Strong Educational Background In Law, Specifically In The Area Of Intellectual Property, Is Crucial For This Role. A Degree From A Reputable University Or College Will Demonstrate A Solid Understanding Of Legal Principles And Practices.
Minimum Of 3 Years Experience In Intellectual Property Law: Becton Dickinson Is Seeking Candidates With A Proven Track Record In Handling Intellectual Property Matters. The Ideal Candidate Will Have At Least 3 Years Of Experience In This Field, Preferably In A Corporate Or Law Firm Setting.
Knowledge Of Patent And Trademark Law: The Successful Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Patent And Trademark Law, Including The Ability To Conduct Patent And Trademark Searches, Draft Patent Applications, And Provide Legal Advice On Trademark Issues.
Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: As A Legal Specialist For Intellectual Property, The Individual Will Be Responsible For Evaluating Complex Legal Issues And Developing Effective Solutions. Therefore, Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills Are Essential To Be Successful In This Role.
