  1. Conduct thorough and timely research on current events and news stories for the weekend bulletins on BBC Radio Scotland.
  2. Deliver accurate and engaging on-air reports and updates on breaking news stories.
  3. Collaborate with producers and editors to develop and shape the weekend news agenda for BBC Radio Scotland.
  4. Write compelling scripts for radio broadcasts that capture the attention of the audience.
  5. Conduct interviews with relevant sources and guests to provide insightful and informative coverage.
  6. Maintain a high level of journalistic integrity and adhere to BBC's editorial standards and guidelines.
  7. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to continuously improve the quality of news coverage.
  8. Work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines.
  9. Use social media platforms to promote and share news stories and engage with the audience.
  10. Mentor and support junior members of the news team to foster their growth and development.
  11. Attend and report on events and press conferences as needed.
  12. Remain adaptable and flexible to cover breaking news and stories outside of regular working hours.
  13. Represent BBC in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
  14. Maintain strong relationships with sources and stakeholders to gather accurate and reliable information.
  15. Collaborate with other departments within BBC to coordinate and produce multimedia content for the weekend bulletins.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Experience In Broadcast Journalism: A Senior Journalist For Weekend Bulletins At Bbc Radio Scotland Should Have A Minimum Of 7-10 Years Of Experience In Broadcast Journalism, With A Focus On Radio News. This Experience Should Include Producing And Presenting News Bulletins, Conducting Interviews, And Writing News Scripts.

  • Strong News Judgment And Editorial Skills: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Current Affairs And The Ability To Identify And Prioritize News Stories That Will Be Of Interest To Bbc Radio Scotland's Audience. They Should Also Possess Excellent Writing Skills And The Ability To Craft Engaging And Informative News Stories For Radio.

  • Knowledge Of Scottish Politics And Current Affairs: As A Senior Journalist For Bbc Radio Scotland, The Candidate Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Scottish Politics, Current Affairs, And Cultural Issues. This Includes A Working Knowledge Of Local And National Government, As Well As An Understanding Of The Social And Cultural Landscape Of Scotland.

  • Multimedia Skills: In Addition To Strong Radio Journalism Skills, The Ideal Candidate Should Also Have Experience In Digital Media And The Ability To Produce Multimedia Content For Bbc Radio Scotland's Online Platforms. This Includes Creating Engaging Social Media Content, Producing Video And Audio Content, And Contributing To The Station's Website.

  • Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: A Senior Journalist For Bbc Radio Scotland's Weekend Bulletins Must Be Able To Work Effectively In A Fast-Paced And Dynamic News Environment.
