  1. Researching and developing compelling story ideas and angles for various news topics and events.
  2. Conducting thorough and accurate investigations and interviews to gather information for news stories.
  3. Writing and editing high-quality news articles, scripts, and reports for various platforms, including television, radio, and online.
  4. Collaborating with other journalists and team members to ensure timely and accurate reporting of breaking news and current events.
  5. Monitoring and analyzing news trends and staying up-to-date with current affairs and developments around the world.
  6. Ensuring all content produced adheres to BBC editorial standards and guidelines.
  7. Working closely with producers and news editors to plan and produce engaging news segments and programs.
  8. Mentoring and providing guidance to junior journalists and interns.
  9. Representing the BBC at events and conferences, and building relationships with key stakeholders in the industry.
  10. Taking a leadership role in the newsroom and making editorial decisions in the absence of the news editor.
  11. Adhering to strict deadlines and managing time effectively to produce high-quality content in a fast-paced environment.
  12. Maintaining a strong network of contacts and sources to gather information and break news stories.
  13. Keeping up-to-date with the latest technology and techniques in journalism and incorporating them into work practices.
  14. Upholding the BBC's values of accuracy, fairness, and impartiality in all reporting.
  15. Being available for on-call and flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed for breaking news coverage.
