  1. Develop and implement a strategic vision for news documentaries and long form journalism at the BBC.
  2. Oversee the production of high-quality and impactful documentaries and long form programs, ensuring they meet the BBC's standards for accuracy, fairness, and impartiality.
  3. Collaborate with producers, reporters, and other team members to identify and develop compelling story ideas that align with the BBC's mission and values.
  4. Monitor and analyze news trends and current affairs to ensure the BBC's coverage remains relevant and resonates with audiences.
  5. Manage and mentor a team of producers, editors, and other staff, providing guidance and support to help them produce their best work.
  6. Work closely with other departments, including marketing and distribution, to promote and distribute news documentaries and long form programs effectively.
  7. Cultivate and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders, including production companies and talent, to secure access to exclusive content and collaborations.
  8. Ensure that all content produced meets legal and ethical standards, as well as any regulatory requirements.
  9. Stay up-to-date with industry developments and innovations in storytelling techniques to continuously improve the quality and impact of BBC's news documentaries and long form programs.
  10. Represent the BBC and its values in public events, conferences, and other professional settings.
