- Assist surgeons and other healthcare professionals during open heart procedures.
- Prepare and maintain surgical equipment and supplies.
- Ensure all necessary equipment is in working condition before each procedure.
- Create and maintain a sterile environment in the operating room.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures.
- Assist with positioning and draping of patients.
- Monitor patient vital signs during procedures.
- Handle specimens and send them to the lab for analysis.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the surgical procedure.
- Adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures.
- Collaborate with other members of the surgical team to ensure efficient and effective patient care.

Completion Of A Surgical Technologist Program: The Candidate Should Have Completed An Accredited Surgical Technologist Program And Received A Certificate Or Diploma.
Certification As A Surgical Technologist: The Candidate Should Hold A Current Certification As A Certified Surgical Technologist (Cst) From The National Board Of Surgical Technology And Surgical Assisting (Nbstsa).
Experience In Open Heart Surgery: The Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Surgical Technologist In Open Heart Surgery, Preferably In A Hospital Setting.
Knowledge Of Surgical Equipment And Procedures: The Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Surgical Equipment, Instruments, And Procedures Used In Open Heart Surgery.
Attention To Detail And Ability To Work Under Pressure: The Candidate Should Have Excellent Attention To Detail And The Ability To Work Efficiently In A Fast-Paced And High-Pressure Environment. This Is Essential For Ensuring Patient Safety And Assisting The Surgical Team During Complex Procedures.
