Job Description

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! Baptist Health South Florida is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team as a Laboratory Support member. In this role, you will play a crucial role in our healthcare system by accurately and efficiently collecting blood samples from patients and supporting our laboratory operations.   1. Accurately and efficiently collect blood samples from patients using proper phlebotomy techniques.
  2. Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the laboratory.
  3. Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and healthcare providers to ensure a positive patient experience.
  4. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
  5. Perform basic laboratory tasks, such as processing and labeling specimens, to support laboratory operations.
  6. Utilize electronic medical record systems to accurately record patient information and test results.
  7. Follow established protocols and guidelines for specimen collection and handling to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
  8. Collaborate with laboratory staff to troubleshoot and resolve any issues or concerns related to specimen collection and processing.
  9. Maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies and equipment, and notify appropriate personnel when supplies need to be restocked.
  10. Keep up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in phlebotomy and laboratory operations.
  11. Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  12. Demonstrate a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  13. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of A Phlebotomy Program: A Phlebotomist, Laboratory-Support Must Have Completed A Formal Training Program In Phlebotomy And Have A Certificate Or Diploma From An Accredited Institution.

  • Certification: Most Employers Require A Phlebotomist To Be Certified Through A Nationally Recognized Organization Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Phlebotomy Association (Npa).

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Procedures: A Phlebotomist Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Procedures In Order To Accurately Label Samples And Communicate With Medical Staff.

  • Experience With Venipuncture And Specimen Collection: A Phlebotomist Must Have Experience Performing Venipuncture And Collecting Various Types Of Specimens, Such As Blood, Urine, And Tissue Samples.

  • Attention To Detail And Accuracy: As A Phlebotomist, Laboratory-Support, It Is Crucial To Have A Keen Attention To Detail And Be Highly Accurate In Collecting, Labeling, And Recording Specimens To Ensure Patient Safety And Proper Diagnosis.
