Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Patient Financial Associate in our Emergency Department Registration department. As a Patient Financial Associate, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient registration process for our patients, while also providing excellent customer service.   1. Greet and welcome patients and their families as they arrive at the Emergency Department Registration department.
  2. Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information for accurate and timely registration.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to ensure proper billing and reimbursement procedures are followed.
  4. Educate patients on their financial responsibilities, including insurance coverage, co-pays, and deductibles.
  5. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
  6. Process patient payments, including cash, credit card, and insurance payments.
  7. Keep accurate records of patient information and financial transactions.
  8. Work closely with the finance and billing departments to resolve any billing or insurance issues.
  9. Ensure all necessary forms and documents are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  10. Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
  11. Keep up-to-date with insurance policies and procedures to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement.
  12. Collaborate with other departments to ensure a smooth and efficient registration process for patients.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Healthcare Billing And Insurance Processes: A Patient Financial Associate Should Possess A Thorough Understanding Of Healthcare Billing And Insurance Processes, Including Coding, Claims Submission, And Payment Posting. This Knowledge Is Essential For Accurately Registering Patients And Ensuring Timely Reimbursement.

  • Experience With Electronic Medical Records (Emrs): Proficiency In Using Emrs Is A Critical Qualification For A Patient Financial Associate In The Ed Registration Department. This Includes Knowledge Of Different Emr Systems, As Well As The Ability To Navigate And Enter Patient Information Accurately.

  • Excellent Customer Service Skills: As The First Point Of Contact For Patients Entering The Ed, A Patient Financial Associate Should Possess Exceptional Customer Service Skills. This Includes Effective Communication, Empathy, And The Ability To Handle Difficult Situations With Professionalism And Compassion.

  • Attention To Detail: The Nature Of The Ed Requires A High Level Of Accuracy And Attention To Detail When Registering Patients. A Patient Financial Associate Should Be Detail-Oriented To Ensure That All Patient Information Is Entered Correctly, Insurance Coverage Is Verified, And Any Necessary Authorizations Are Obtained.

  • Ability To Work Under Pressure: Working In The Ed Can Be Fast-Paced And High-Stress, So A Patient Financial Associate Should Be Able To Handle Pressure And Work Efficiently In A Dynamic Environment. This Includes The Ability To Multitask, Prioritize Tasks, And Maintain Composure During Busy Or Critical Situations.
