Pathologist Assistant, Lab Pathology

1. Provide assistance to pathologists in the performance of autopsies, surgical specimen dissections, and frozen sections.
2. Prepare and process tissue samples for microscopic examination, including embedding, cutting, staining, and mounting.
3. Perform slide preparations and assist with special stains and immunohistochemical studies.
4. Ensure accuracy and completeness of all laboratory data and maintain accurate records.
5. Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and inventory.
6. Communicate effectively with pathologists, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate processing of specimens.
7. Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
8. Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
9. Assist in the training and supervision of new laboratory staff and students.
10. Stay updated on new developments and techniques in the field of pathology and identify opportunities for process improvement.
11. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
