
Pathologist Assistant, Lab Pathology

- Provide assistance to pathologists in the performance of autopsies, surgical specimen dissections, and frozen sections.
- Prepare and process tissue samples for microscopic examination, including embedding, cutting, staining, and mounting.
- Perform slide preparations and assist with special stains and immunohistochemical studies.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all laboratory data and maintain accurate records.
- Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and inventory.
- Communicate effectively with pathologists, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate processing of specimens.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the training and supervision of new laboratory staff and students.
- Stay updated on new developments and techniques in the field of pathology and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment, demonstrating professionalism and a strong work ethic.

- Flexibility to work varying shifts and schedules as needed, including weekends and holidays.
Bachelor's Degree In Biological Sciences Or A Related Field, With A Focus On Anatomy And Physiology.
Certification As A Pathologists' Assistant (Pa) From The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Pathology Laboratory Or In A Related Field.
Strong Understanding Of Laboratory Safety Protocols And Proficiency In Handling And Processing Human Tissue Specimens.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively In A Multidisciplinary Team Setting.
