
Health Information Management Document Technician

Responsibilities of a Health Information Management Document Technician:
- Collect, review, analyze, and record medical information from paper and electronic documentation
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of medical records by verifying that documents are properly filed and labeled
- Ensure patient confidentiality at all times by adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Process requests for medical records from various sources, including physicians and other healthcare providers
- Maintain and update patient records in accordance with coding and billing regulations
- Provide customer service by responding to inquiries from patients, family members, and other healthcare providers
- Enter data into electronic health record systems
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to electronic health records
- Monitor and audit medical records for compliance with applicable laws and regulations
