1. Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate and compliant coding and billing practices.
2. Utilize knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes to ensure proper documentation and coding.
3. Identify and resolve coding and billing errors and discrepancies.
4. Collaborate with other departments to obtain missing or incorrect information related to coding and billing.
5. Conduct regular audits to monitor and improve charge capture and documentation processes.
6. Stay up-to-date on coding and billing regulations and guidelines to ensure compliance.
7. Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify coding and billing questions or concerns.
8. Assist in the development and implementation of training programs for staff to improve coding and billing accuracy.
9. Prepare and present reports on coding and billing accuracy, compliance, and trends.
10. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
11. Participate in departmental meetings and provide input on process improvement initiatives.
12. Collaborate with revenue cycle and finance teams to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement.
13. Prioritize workload and meet established deadlines.
14. Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families by promptly addressing any billing inquiries or concerns.
