- Perform routine maintenance, repair, and calibration of medical equipment throughout our facilities.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, and develop effective solutions to ensure safe and accurate operation.
- Conduct periodic inspections of equipment to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and identify potential issues.
- Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities, including equipment logs and service reports.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure timely and effective equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Stay updated on industry standards and best practices for equipment maintenance and repair.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of equipment and supplies, and assist with procurement as needed.
- Communicate with equipment manufacturers and external service providers to obtain technical support and resolve equipment issues.
- Train and educate healthcare staff on the proper use and maintenance of medical equipment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while performing maintenance and repair tasks.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of equipment operations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, and ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare staff, and address any equipment-related concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with the IT department to troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to medical equipment.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
Degree In Biomedical Engineering Or Related Field: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Biomedical Engineering Or A Related Field Is Typically Required For A Biomedical Technician Position At Baptist Health South Florida. This Education Provides The Necessary Foundation And Technical Knowledge For The Job.
Experience Working With Medical Equipment: Previous Experience Working With Medical Equipment, Such As Troubleshooting, Repairing, And Maintaining A Variety Of Medical Devices, Is Highly Valued For This Role. This Experience Can Be Gained Through Internships, Co-Op Programs, Or Previous Employment In A Similar Role.
Knowledge Of Relevant Regulations And Standards: Biomedical Technicians At Baptist Health South Florida Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Relevant Regulations And Standards In The Healthcare Industry. This Includes Knowledge Of Fda Regulations, Hipaa, And Joint Commission Standards.
Strong Technical And Problem-Solving Skills: Biomedical Technicians Must Possess Strong Technical Skills To Diagnose And Repair Complex Medical Equipment. They Should Also Have Excellent Problem-Solving Skills To Troubleshoot Issues And Find Solutions To Equipment Malfunctions.
Communication And Teamwork Abilities: Effective Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential For A Biomedical Technician At Baptist Health South Florida. They Must Be Able To Work Collaboratively With Other Technicians, Nurses, And Physicians To Ensure Safe And Efficient Use Of Medical Equipment. Strong Communication Skills Are Also Necessary For Documenting Repairs And Providing Training To Staff On Equipment Usage.
