  1. Conduct thorough assessments of patients' medical history and current health status to determine eligibility for blood transfusions.
  2. Administer blood products to patients in a safe and timely manner, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  3. Monitor patients' vital signs and response to transfusions, making adjustments as necessary.
  4. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans for patients.
  5. Maintain accurate and detailed records of blood product usage, patient reactions, and other relevant information.
  6. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of blood products, ensuring an adequate supply for patient needs.
  7. Perform quality control checks on blood products to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  8. Educate patients and their families about blood transfusions and potential risks and benefits.
  9. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during the transfusion process.
  10. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including infection control measures, to ensure a safe working environment.
  11. Stay updated on current advancements and best practices in blood banking and transfusion medicine.
  12. Participate in continuing education opportunities to maintain and enhance clinical expertise.
  13. Serve as a patient advocate, promoting their rights and ensuring their needs are met.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Is Required For This Position, With A Focus On Hematology And Blood Bank Practices.

  • Current Rn License In The State Of Kentucky: Applicants Must Hold A Current And Valid Registered Nurse License In The State Of Kentucky To Be Considered For This Position.

  • Prior Experience In Blood Bank Laboratory: Previous Experience Working In A Blood Bank Laboratory Setting Is Preferred, As This Role Will Require Knowledge And Understanding Of Blood Testing Procedures And Protocols.

  • Strong Communication And Organizational Skills: Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal, Are Essential In This Role To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Colleagues, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Additionally, Strong Organizational Skills Are Necessary To Manage And Prioritize Multiple Tasks And Responsibilities.

  • Attention To Detail And Accuracy: As A Registered Nurse In The Blood Bank Laboratory, Attention To Detail And Accuracy Are Crucial To Ensure The Safety And Well-Being Of Patients. The Ability To Follow Strict Protocols And Accurately Record And Analyze Data Is Essential In This Role.
