Job Description

As a Nurse Epidemiologist, you will play a crucial role in identifying and preventing the spread of diseases within our healthcare system. With your expertise in epidemiology and nursing, you will be responsible for analyzing healthcare data, developing infection control protocols, and educating staff on best practices.   1. Conduct data analysis and surveillance to identify trends and patterns in disease outbreaks and healthcare-associated infections.
  2. Develop and implement evidence-based infection control protocols to prevent and control the spread of diseases within the healthcare system.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide education and training on infection control practices and procedures.
  4. Serve as a consultant and resource for healthcare providers on the appropriate use of infection control measures.
  5. Conduct epidemiological investigations and research to identify the source of infections and potential risks to patients and staff.
  6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of infectious diseases and outbreaks, and report findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Stay current with industry developments and trends in epidemiology, infection control, and healthcare to ensure best practices are being implemented.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with local health departments and other public health agencies to collaborate on disease prevention and control efforts.
  9. Act as a liaison between the healthcare facility and public health agencies during disease outbreaks or emergencies.
  10. Provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to infection control.
  11. Conduct regular audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of infection control measures and make recommendations for improvement.
  12. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections.
  13. Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, and their families to ensure understanding and compliance with infection control measures.
  14. Adhere to all ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements related to patient confidentiality and privacy.
  15. Demonstrate a commitment to professional development by staying up-to-date with advancements in epidemiology, infection control, and nursing practices.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Nursing Or Public Health With A Focus On Epidemiology.

  • Current Licensure As A Registered Nurse In The State Of Kentucky.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Experience In A Healthcare Setting, With Specific Experience In Epidemiology Preferred.

  • Knowledge Of Statistical Analysis And Data Management.

  • Ability To Effectively Communicate Complex Medical Information To A Variety Of Audiences, Including Healthcare Providers And Community Members.
