- Conduct data analysis and surveillance to identify trends and patterns in disease outbreaks and healthcare-associated infections.
- Develop and implement evidence-based infection control protocols to prevent and control the spread of diseases within the healthcare system.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide education and training on infection control practices and procedures.
- Serve as a consultant and resource for healthcare providers on the appropriate use of infection control measures.
- Conduct epidemiological investigations and research to identify the source of infections and potential risks to patients and staff.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of infectious diseases and outbreaks, and report findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay current with industry developments and trends in epidemiology, infection control, and healthcare to ensure best practices are being implemented.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local health departments and other public health agencies to collaborate on disease prevention and control efforts.
- Act as a liaison between the healthcare facility and public health agencies during disease outbreaks or emergencies.
- Provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to infection control.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of infection control measures and make recommendations for improvement.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, and their families to ensure understanding and compliance with infection control measures.
- Adhere to all ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements related to patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional development by staying up-to-date with advancements in epidemiology, infection control, and nursing practices.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Nursing Or Public Health With A Focus On Epidemiology.
Current Licensure As A Registered Nurse In The State Of Kentucky.
Minimum Of 5 Years Experience In A Healthcare Setting, With Specific Experience In Epidemiology Preferred.
Knowledge Of Statistical Analysis And Data Management.
Ability To Effectively Communicate Complex Medical Information To A Variety Of Audiences, Including Healthcare Providers And Community Members.
