- Provide specialized care to patients with complex cardiovascular conditions in the CVICU.
- Monitor and assess patient condition, including vital signs, lab results, and changes in medical status.
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed by physicians.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on cardiovascular disease management and treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records and documentation.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide immediate and appropriate interventions.
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Comfort and support patients and their families during difficult and emotional times.
- Continuously evaluate and improve patient care by staying up-to-date on best practices and new developments in cardiovascular care.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to new or less experienced nurses on the CVICU team.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure a seamless transition to other units or facilities.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Foster a positive and respectful work environment by communicating effectively and contributing to a cohesive team.
Active Rn License In The State Of Kentucky: The Ideal Candidate For A Cvicu Rn Position At Baptist Health Should Possess An Active And Unrestricted Rn License In The State Of Kentucky. This Ensures That The Nurse Is Legally Allowed To Practice In The State And Is Familiar With State-Specific Regulations And Guidelines.
Bls And Acls Certification: As A Cvicu Rn, The Ability To Respond Quickly To Emergency Situations Is Crucial. Therefore, Candidates Should Hold Current Certifications In Both Basic Life Support (Bls) And Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) From The American Heart Association.
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In Critical Care: Working In A Cardiovascular Icu Requires Specialized Knowledge And Skills. Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In Critical Care, Preferably In A Cardiac Or Cardiovascular Icu Setting.
Bachelor Of Science In Nursing (Bsn) Degree: While This May Not Be A Strict Requirement, Baptist Health Prefers Candidates Who Hold A Bsn Degree. This Demonstrates A Commitment To Ongoing Education And A Higher Level Of Clinical Knowledge And Expertise.
