Job Description

  1. Provide exceptional care to patients in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) by performing essential nursing support duties.
  2. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for patients with complex cardiac conditions.
  3. Monitor and assess patient vital signs, report any changes to the nursing staff, and assist with interventions as directed.
  4. Assist with patient mobility, including turning, positioning, and transferring to and from beds or chairs.
  5. Assist with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding, while promoting patient independence and dignity.
  6. Respond to patient calls and requests promptly, providing necessary assistance and support.
  7. Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining a clutter-free and organized workspace.
  8. Accurately document all patient care tasks and observations in electronic medical records.
  9. Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain knowledge of current best practices and procedures for caring for patients with cardiovascular conditions.
  10. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during their stay in the CVICU.
  11. Collaborate with the nursing staff to anticipate and meet the needs of patients, ensuring a high level of patient satisfaction.
  12. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including those related to patient confidentiality and safety.
  13. Communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, and families, using appropriate and professional language and maintaining a positive attitude.
  14. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the CVICU.
  15. Maintain a high level of professionalism and ethical standards in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Potential Cvicu Nursing Support Technician Should Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Shows The Candidate Has Basic Education And Is Capable Of Following Instructions.

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Certification: Baptist Health Requires All Cvicu Nursing Support Technician Applicants To Have A Cna Certification. This Certification Shows The Candidate Has Received Proper Training And Has The Necessary Skills To Perform Basic Nursing Tasks.

  • Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: Bls Certification Is Required For All Healthcare Professionals At Baptist Health. This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Is Trained In Life-Saving Techniques And Can Provide Emergency Care If Needed.

  • Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: While Not Required, Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Especially In An Icu Or Critical Care Unit, Is Highly Preferred. This Shows The Candidate Has Some Understanding Of The Demands And Responsibilities Of Working In A Fast-Paced, High-Stress Environment.

  • Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills: Working In A Cvicu Requires Constant Communication And Collaboration With Other Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Candidates Should Possess Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills To Ensure The Smooth And Efficient Operation Of The Unit.
